doctor tells it like it is

saw dr. dobrenis today.  we listened to the baby's heartbeat - normal and strong.  told her about my issues as usual.  i was worried about my tummy tightening in some areas and feeling some pressure.  she said i'm for sure have uterine activity which is normal at ~34 weeks.  probably braxton hicks.  i told her that i've woken up a couple of times in the middle of the night with a choking feeling from heartburn.  she told me to start taking pepcid AC twice a day (morning and night) and elevate my head with pillows (30 degree angle).  she said i looked tired today... told her it's because i wake up several times in the middle of the night - to pee or change positions or whatever!  i mentioned that my pelvic bone separation feels like someone is hitting me on the crotch.  she said to take it easy...  take a cab to work instead of walking, but no activity is also bad for it.  she asked me if i could work from home for the last month.  i told her i can only swing 2 weeks.  i have a new resource starting in a week and a half and i need to train her before my maternity leave.  but luckily my job is flexible enough that if i'm not feeling well a certain day, i can work from home that day.  been doing that once a week lately.  i told her i was glad i'm in the homestretch.  she said i'm not there yet - GASP!  she told me i have several weeks to go (at least a month) and that it will get worse... it will get "very bad" esp. since i have a small frame.  i'm scared but at the same time glad that she's being honest with me.  after she left the room, i looked at mik.  told him i don't know if i could do this again.  he said the second time will be easier.  yeah... right.....

next appointment is on the 23rd with dr. john leonard since dr. dobrenis will be out of town.  we'll be doing an ultrasound, culture test, cervix measurement and looking at baby positioning.  i wish dr. dobrenis will be here for that but i guess i need to meet dr. leonard at some point.  he could be the one delivering my baby if he's on call the day i go to labor.  after that appt, we come back every week!  can't wait to see dragon again.  hope he's still in the perfect position for delivery.  15 more sleeps!  :)
