manhattan baby shower
never in a million years would i have thought that i would be giving birth to my first child in manhattan. it's not really known as the best place to start a family. it's where you go to pursue your dreams, focus on your career and take over the world! ;) or a place to visit - watch broadway shows, shop and sightsee. but we're here and we are starting a family. i actually like the idea of my son being born in new york city. i hope he does too when he's older. to me, new york symbolizes strength, drive to succeed and diverse interests/cultures. i hope those are qualities my son will take from this special city.
last sunday, we had our 3rd and last baby shower at amber restaurant in manhattan, where dragon baby will be born. it was a fitting way to end our baby shower "tour". as different as our LA and SF showers were from each other, this one had its own personality as well. it was more intimate and girls only. :) it was perfect for me esp. in my 3rd trimester. i don't think i could have handled another 100-person party again! i had a great time... who knew my belly circumference measures 12 toilet paper squares (apparently betty did)! it was awesome to see all my wonderful girlfriends there and have them celebrate dragon's pending arrival. lots of them offered to babysit... i wonder if they all meant it. haha! we got a lot of cute gifts... just to mention a couple: baby briefcase where we will store all of the baby's documents and converse shoes to match with mama and papa. we also got an exersaucer - can't wait for dragon to jump around in that! thank you to all my fabulous NYC girls who attended. i know how busy everyone is and for you to take the time to celebrate with me (on superbowl sunday - go giants!), it was very much appreciated. huge thanks to tita michelle, tita chrissy, tita cherry, auntie yuri and auntie ingrid for helping plan our last baby shower!
here are some photos (mik made an appearance at the end to help transport the gifts!):
