nuchal translucency results

we had our 2nd appt with dr. dobrenis today. she told us that our nuchal test results are glowing. we got hi-5s again!!! she said they can't be any better. it's still up to us to make the decision if we want to do the amnio test. because of my age (will be 35 or older at the time of delivery), i should think about it. dr. dobrenis did it when she was pregnant in her early 30s but there was no nuchal test yet. i couldn't really tell if she was recommending to do it or not. she kept repeating that our numbers are very good! i asked her again about the risk to get a miscarriage with amnio. she said 1/400 but her practice has not had a miscarriage due to this test in 20 years. what she did recommend was we make an appointment for genetic counseling and amnio - we can cancel one or both later after we make a decision so at least it's scheduled. she was like "you both are so quiet. i can't tell if you prefer one decision over the other and i can usually tell with my other patients." haha. i told her we were telepathic. :)

the room we were in didn't have the ultrasound machine and i got sad thinking i wasn't going to see dragon today. but she had a portable one in her hand and she tried to find the heartbeat but couldn't. she said the baby was probably deep into my pelvis so she pulled the big machine from the other room... and there's our dragon! strong and healthy heartbeat with the legs crossed. the baby is 6.5 cm now measuring 12 weeks and 6 days which is right on. i'm going to be 13 weeks tomorrow! dr. dobrenis said everything is perfect. they took 3 more blood tests that dr. huang missed and then we were off.

i made my appointments with genetics just in case. definitely something we need to discuss and think thoroughly.
