turned-over turtle

we saw dr. dobrenis today.  i felt violated again when she jammed her hand so far up in there to touch the baby's head.  it was very uncomfortable and gave me cramps.  but great news...  i'm 1 cm dilated and 40% effaced!  WHOOT WHOOT!  some action down there - a sign of progress!!!  she said her other santos patient came in today too - 40 weeks and not even dilated!  oh man...  that would drive me nuts!  she said next wednesday, she will rupture the membrane to help speed up the labor.  she really doesn't want me going past my due date but she also won't induce me until i'm about a week late.  if i'm still pregnant at 40 weeks, we will have to monitor the baby's heartbeat for 20-30 min twice a week because at that point, the placenta can go bad and may affect the baby's health.  hopefully i don't go past 39 weeks.  the latest i want to deliver is on the 16th (one coworker is betting on that date).  mik's sister is voting for monday 3/12/12.  after the exam, dr. dobrenis had to help me up and i told her i felt like a turned-over turtle.  she started laughing - she really liked that - better than a beached whale.  i told her that mik called me a turned-over turtle (or crab) when he saw me trying to get up from the couch one day.  haha
