laundry hell and labor 101

so much laundry before the baby comes!  it took me 2 full days to wash everything because i felt so exhausted after a few loads.   i'm always tired now.  :(   yesterday we went to dim sum then spent less than 10 min in the container store... after that, i went home and took an hour and a half nap!  why did my nesting instincts only kick in now?   should have done this in my 2nd trimester when i had more energy.

while i was doing laundry, the super's wife came by and asked me how i was feeling.  i told her i was exhausted all the time and now busy washing the baby's clothes.  she said "did the baby arrive already?"  WHAAAAAAT?  DO I NOT LOOK PREGNANT?!!!
we have to finish nesting this week including packing the hospital bag and watching all the DVDs.  we watched the first disc of labor 101 last friday.  it was pretty good - but feel like it promotes natural delivery sans epidural.  i definitely want the drugs.  i think i'm too small and the pain will be too much.  anyway, here's what we learned from the DVD:
  • relax, relax and relax
  • ask for epidural when about 4-5 cm dilated
  • head to the hospital when the contractions are about 5 min apart
  • let nature take over the body and do its thing
  • breathing technique: inhale for 4 seconds, exhale for 8 seconds
  • coach (mik) will have to do anything i ask him to (massage, ice chips, lip balm, etc) and what i want may change from time to time (give pep talk vs. keep quiet)
  • have a birth plan but be prepared that it may not go as planned
  • for each contraction, "the pain brings me closer to the birth of my baby"
hope i remember all this when i deliver.  with my prego brain, i may have to watch the DVD again.  tomorrow we have our CPR training.  it's the only class we're taking because we were told the other classes were a waste of time and money.  we definitely want to learn about CPR and safety of our baby.
