early mother's day gift
happy 2 months old, maki baby! we saw dr. kercher today. he now weighs 12 lbs 15 oz (60th percentile) and is 23 3/4 inches long (80th percentile - yay!). babies are supposed to double their birth weight by 4 months. maki did it in 2 months. chubby!!! he got three vaccines (1 oral). mik was covering my ears and hugging me while maki was getting the shots and i still heard my baby's shrieks. my poor baby has been so off today. he barely ate and has been sleeping all day. :( he also got a 102 fever that night. good thing ninang kat was with us - i was freaking out. she kept track of his temperature and put cool washcloth on him and a lighter onesie. my poor baby!!! (he was fine the next morning). dr kercher also told us that after inspecting his poop, he still has blood in it. she said to keep dairy/soy off my diet and come back in a month with his poop so they can test it.
maki was feeding every 3 hours even at night. we really need more sleep. it was affecting our lives! so earlier this week, mik and i came up with a plan. we started decreasing his 3am feed so we can eliminate it. mik started feeding him the bottle at 3am. we started with 3.5oz, decreased it by 1/2 oz every night and beefed up the 9pm and midnight feeds to supplement. during the middle of the week, maki eliminated the 9pm feed somehow (he started to eat at 7:30pm instead of 6pm). he didn't wake up at 9pm so we didn't feed him until he woke up at midnight. then we started beefing up his 7:30pm feeding and his 3am feed became 4am, then 5am. last night we were down to 1/2 oz so i told mik that if the baby isn't hungry, don't bother feeding him the 1/2 oz. today when i woke up 6:30am, i asked mik if he fed maki. he said no. omg he hasn't eaten since 11:30pm?!!! mik did a small cheer and led me to believe maki lasted without the extra feeding. then i noticed maki wasn't in the bdrm. i asked mik where the baby is... he said he put him in the living room. i asked "why? is the baby ok?" he said I should go check - he must be hungry. i went to the living room and found mik's sis carrying maki. she flew here to help for a couple of days. i hugged her and started crying... BEST mother's day present EVER!!! maki's present to me? he didn't eat until 6am. hallelujah! let's hope for 7am tomorrow. :)
here are a couple of my favorite maki videos. he's smiling so much now! melts my heart...
