pregnancy brain fog
like many pregnant women, i have pregnancy brain fog (forgetfulness). why didn't anyone tell me i'd turn into an airhead once i got pregnant? geez. i don't know why i'm just blogging about this now. this has plagued me from the start. maybe because of it, i keep forgetting to blog about this topic. anyway, it is not a myth. pregnancy brain is very real. so real that i have to set reminders to take my prenatal vitamins everyday, had to setup recurring rent payments with online banking (was late 2x and never been late before), can't remember people's names (even close ones), forgotten people's birthdays, have to write everything down at work, have to send myself emails as reminders... it's insanity. i also constantly wake up in the middle of the night now due to discomfort or to pee - i'm sure that's not helping my brain either! studies show that women's brains actually shrink (~8%) during pregnancy. they supposedly return to their normal sizes 6 months after birth but a lot of people i've talked to said brain fog never goes away. no wonder people have left their babies at the grocery store! yikes.
yesterday on my way to work, i got yelled at on the street again. some delivery guy yelled out "that's gotta be a boy!" to me. that's the 2nd time that happened (1st was a cab driver while i was crossing the street). weird. both men too. what makes them think they know all about it? they are so sure of themselves as if they had been pregnant at some point in their lives. the way i carry my baby has nothing to do with the baby's gender. that, unlike pregnancy brain, is a myth.
i accidentally released gas during work today. it was loud. good thing the girl who shares the office with me is out for 2 weeks. as i was gloating over my good luck, mik walks into my office and says "what's that smell?" FML.
