he rolled over... less than 3 months old!!!
this afternoon, i was trying to make maki take a longer nap but he refused to. at around 5pm, i put him on the gymini for tummy time. nanny didn't have time for it today since they went to the park for a couple of hours so i wanted maki to do some core/neck exercises. the minute i put him down on his tummy, i noticed that he lifted himself up very high - like a mini-pushup... i started nudging him to knock him over and show him the feeling of rolling over. i did it a few times. then lo and behold - he rolled over on his own! i couldn't believe it!!! my first reaction was to text mik! then i hugged my talented baby, kissed him lots and cheered for him. then i got teary eyed. he's 5 days shy of 3 months and already rolled over!!!!! i'm so proud.... it's considered an advanced skill for 3-month old babies (few can do it) and only half of 4-month old babies can do it. he's a genius! :) i tried to get him to do it again so i can videotape it but no luck. he was tired and hungry... even though i just fed him an hour before that. guess all that tummy time/rolling over is hard work. he ate then took a nap! hope he does it for papa soon. wish we could have shared the moment together... makes me sad to think about going to work the week after next. i may miss his other "firsts". :( nanny asked me if wanted to know when maki did something for the first time because she had other parents who didn't want to know - so they would think it was the first time with them. i told her i would want to know. i don't want a "fake" first... or do i?!!!
here are maki's other milestones:
here are maki's other milestones:
- last 6/1, maki grabbed the monkey's tail on the gymini with his left hand (but he used to grab my necklace weeks ago which is why i stopped wearing it).
- last night maki slept 10 hours straight with no fussing at all. we put him down in his crib at 7:30 and he was asleep by 7:40. he woke up around 5:40 to feed. that's 10 hours!!! then after feeding, he went back to sleep and woke up at 9am. of course, this was no coincidence. we worked hard on sleep training and i'll blog about that a bit later.
- tonight he's sleeping without being swaddled but with a sleep sack. since he started rolling over, i read that they cannot be swaddled anymore so they can use their arms in the event they roll over. he lasted until 10:30pm only. oh well, will try not swaddling another time!
