teething already!

it's hard to believe but my baby boy is teething and he hasn't been eating well lately.  we first noticed he wasn't eating much a week and a half ago (6/21) from bottle or breast.  he kept sucking on his lower lip and was chewing on his paci.  i told everyone i thought he was teething but no one believed me because he barely turned 3 months old then... but mother knows best!  :)  never really understood that saying until now.  i asked my little sis when her kids started teething and she said about 3-4 months old.  early teething must run in the family!  i called the dr's office and the nurse told me he's probably teething and to try giving him tyenol to see if it helped with the pain.  i think by the time we tried the tylenol, maki was already getting used to the discomfort.  a few days ago, he drank 6oz and it has been a while since he drank his usual amount.  he was down to 2-4 oz per feeding but feeding more frequently.  i think he could only stand the discomfort long enough to drink that much...  but now he's eating better.  still not as much as before but definitely better.  i bought some teething toys that we can freeze to help with his discomfort.  but he's so young, it barely fits in his mouth and he's not coordinated to put it in his mouth yet.  poor baby...  i wish there was something else i could do!  i don't want to give him any more tylenol because he's going to be teething for 2 years!  he needs to get used to it...  :(  he's already biting my nipple so as excited as i am for his first tooth, i'm dreading it!!!

every mother says this but i truly believe maki is a very advanced baby.  you're probably saying "yeah.  right...."  but if you look at his milestones, he's AMAZING!  here are some things he has been doing for a few weeks now:
  • recognizes my voice
  • grabbing toys
  • bear weight on his legs while i help him stand
  • sleeping through the night (~11 weeks)
  • holds head steady
  • teething (6/21)
  • brings hands together (6/22)
  • likes to sit on his own and hunches forward and looks at his feet (or touch it)
  • says "baaaa" (6/29)
maki had his 2nd photo shoot yesterday in central park (his first was his newborn pics in the hospital).  we met angelica - the photographer - at the dairy.  we ran late because we had to wake up maki from his nap then he was hungry...  it's hard to be on time to anything these days!  it was soooo hot today at the park.  my usually happy baby wasn't so happy.  all four of us (photographer's hubby included) tried hard to make him smile.  he smiled a few times so i hope angelica caught them.  we brought a few toys but they weren't doing the trick.  we also had to feed him between takes.  the heat was making him thirsty.  i can't wait to see the pics in 2 weeks!  angelica showed me one of them and it was so adorable!!!  def frame worthy.  we'll be using them for the baptism invites.  really excited!

i don't want to go back to work tomorrow.  2nd week back was awful...  worse than the 1st week back at work.  i was crying on monday - missing my baby love.  i changed my facial to earlier so i could see my baby.  ended up leaving work at 4:15 monday and tuesday and working from home on friday!  maki has been teething too so i worry about him.  he hasn't gotten his appetite back and i don't want him to lose his chubby cheeks!

here are some recent photos and a cute video:

nanny took this pic... i'm glad he's happy!!!
um...  the hammock is struggling to hold maki up.  we removed it already.
my cute baby boy

funny video of mik teasing maki with the bottle

he likes to sit forward like this now.  not good to be hunched over but he keeps doing it!
"papa, can you please put batteries in my toys?"
playing on the bumbo.  we should get a onesie that says "have you seen my neck?"
so true!!!  my coworker gave me this onesie :)
