sorry for the delay in posting these pics. our laptop disk was full and it took me so long to back everything up after the move. as a stay at home mom, i feel like i have no extra time to do random stuff... and i can't find time to blog anymore. will seriously try to do it on a more consistent basis but no guarantees. some nights i'm just so exhausted! i don't know how people with multiple kids do this. ;)
during maki's 12-month checkup, he got a few shots including measles. he's also 50th percentile across the board now (height, weight and head size). i even had the nurse measure his height twice. how can he go from 89th percentile to 48th?!! oh well.... i'm praying that he got the orquiza gene and grows up tall! i didn't like the doctor we saw. she made me worried that maki isn't walking or saying words yet... and she wants me to limit his ipad usage to 30 min. some days he doesn't use the ipad but there are days when he will use it for more than 30 min! depends on his mood. at that time, maki also had a cold and cough... and we learned he was also starting to develop an ear infection so the dr gave him antibiotics.
he's very close to walking now. he just needs to hold on to one of my fingers. he's too cautious and doesn't want to let go even though he can stand on his own and prob can walk on his own by now. he gets scared. poor baby. we have heard him say "ha" for hat a few times, "duh" (sounds like duck) for dog. says "mamamamama" when he wants me or something. says "dadada" usually for mik. he used to say "this" a lot too but he stopped recently. our next dr's appt is on june 6th so hopefully maki will be full on walking by then. he takes my finger all day long and wants me to walk him! if i don't, he throws a tantrum. oh boy... we weaned him from bottle a couple of weeks after he turned 1, but we put him back on the formula recently. he doesn't like vitamin D, rice or almond milk at all. he only drinks ~8oz per day of formula and he gets the rest of his vitamin D and calcium from yogurt, cheese or oatmeal. about 8 days after the vaccination, maki had a fever and developed a bad rash all over his body. we saw another dr and said it was a reaction to the vaccination - which we were never warned about. then ~3 days after that, he got hives! it was crazy - just so many things going on with him. i was scared! :(
i've also been busy touring preschools. i've seen 6 so far - 3 of which are montessori. i have a few more tours lined up from now until the fall. the ones i've seen ranges from $1,000-1,650 per month and one was surprisingly ~$600. after living in new york and paying nanny costs, these numbers do not shock me as much. haha! the schools i'm looking at are either 5-30 minutes away from the house. i probably won't apply to the ones we like until the fall. i want maki to grow up a bit so i can see his personality and assess if he'll thrive in a montessori or not. although my favorite school so far isn't a montessori. i really loved it. we'll see if there are others i feel as strongly about after i do all the tours. half of the ones i've seen have a wait list for sept 2014 already. some of them are first come first serve but there are some that are very selective - based on parents' interview, child interview, gender ratio, who you know, etc. i can't believe this is for preschool!!!
we have swimming twice per week and after swim class, we usually go to the park for an hour or so... then my gym once a week... plus all the preschool tours... i also prepare maki's meals and snacks... i do his laundry.... plus i recently started the job search... so yes, i run out of hours per day! it is the hardest but most fulfilling job to be a stay at home mom. i LOOOOOVE the time i get to spend with my baby love. we play a lot and i try to teach him as much as possible. i know this quality time won't last forever and i'm already sad thinking that it may end whenever i find a job. :(
