no swim this week
maki has a cold and a cough again... argh! for someone who doesn't go to daycare, should he be sick often? i guess he's exposed to all those germs in swim and my gym classes... plus every time we go to the park which is quite often. we saw dr. feuille with glendale pediatrics (he's cofounder). really nice, very knowledgeable doctor. if mik doesn't like dr. fan on 6/6, we'll switch to him. here's what we learned which are against what we've been told in the past:
- do not give maki benadryl when he has a cold/cough because it can cause ear infections
- do not give maki tylenol when he has a fever... even as high as 105. only give tylenol for pain. fever is good for him and will make him stronger. only be alarmed with a fever if there is trouble with breathing.
- there's nothing you can do for a cold/cough. it should peak at 3 days but after that, it should start improving. if not, most likely there's an ear infection.
- for a fever, do not give a cold bath or remove clothing. keep him warm i.e. wrapping a blanket. avoid swimming or other activities that will get him cold.
- for blisters or sores, apply neosporin or vaseline. keep it wet - that will make it heal faster.
- to help him walk, barefoot and thin diapers will work best.
maki loves stacking now. he has been taking legos apart but now he wants so badly to put them together. i'm trying to teach him how to eat with a spork but it's still too hard for him. he's into watching his friends' videos on path (iphone app).
i'm trying to learn to cook for makidoodoo. mik and i have been dieting so we can't really feed him what we're having although sometimes he will have some of my smoothies. :) i'd like to give him more veggies and healthy stuff. i've learned to make zucchini pancakes, green mac n cheese and squash muffins.
here are a couple of videos of baby love and some recent photos:
