a holy day {maki's baptism}

last sat 9/1, maki was baptized in san lorenzo ruiz parish in walnut, where mik's parents live.  it was such a great day!!!  maki was well-behaved and attentive.  even though he was tired (it was time for his nap!), he didn't cry and even got tickled when the father tony put oil on his chest.  relatives from my mom and dad's sides came.   my mom and real dad haven't seen each other in ~30 years!  he even kissed her on the cheek!   it was awesome to see them reunite for my son.  i'm very grateful to maki for helping make that happen.  malakai.... my "messenger of God" indeed!  it was also great for mik's family to meet mine.  the parents got along... the sisters got along... and their kids too!  our close friends were also there.  we had about 100 guests at the reception.  lots of kids and babies.  it was perfect!  except maki didn't nap for 8 hrs because he was getting passed around. :-/  a huge thanks to mik's family for coordinating the church and the reception.  thanks to my family and friends who traveled from SF and SD to be there with us on that special day.

maki went swimming for the first time last weekend.  there's a pool at the clubhouse where we held the lunch reception.  he really likes the water...  he went swimming again on monday at mik's parents' place.   i dipped his feet in first and he was reaching to go in with papa.

flight back wasn't as smooth as the flight there.  about an hour into the flight, maki had a gigantic poop explosion.   it went all up his back.  nearby passengers for sure smelled his poop!  he also fussed a bit more and spit up a few times.   i only brought one extra outfit, which we used for the pooplosion, so note to self to bring at least 2 extra outfits.  we got home at 10:30pm and maki was still awake.  thought he would be on west coast time the next day but nanny put him back on schedule right away!  love her!
