happy bday papa!

it was mik's bdays last weekend.  yes, bdays as in more than one.  he celebrates both the 29th and the 30th. on saturday, we went to high line park and met up with mik's old friend from high school.  later that night he had a surprise group dinner with 12 of our close friends followed by a 3-hr karaoke session (mik's fave).  he was definitely surprised!  :)  on sunday, we had brunch at robert - amazing view of central park.

maki has been busy trying solids.  he really likes avocado, sweet potato and butternut squash.  but there's nothing he won't eat.  tabachoy (aka fatso) loves food.  he will start with all the fruits next weekend (pears, apples, peaches, etc).  can't wait!  he's still learning to drink water out of the sippy cup.  getting better but not quite there yet.

maki likes to sit up and play ball (mik or i will roll the ball to him and he kind of rolls it back to us).  he's also crawling sideways, not forward.  he likes to drop things and watch them fall (his books, sippy cup, etc).  today he started tilting his head as if he's trying to be cute.  well, it's working.  haha!  we feel something sharp on his gum so we think his top tooth is coming out.  he's also teething a lot and refuses to nurse at night so he just gets a bottle of breast milk.  :(

today we were busy running around looking for an apt.  we would really like a 2-bdrm place with an elevator and laundry in the bldg.  children's playroom would be nice too so maki can play with other kids during the winter.  i'm starting to freak out about winter in the city...  there are several days when it will be too cold to go out and baby love will get cabin fever!  it will also be nice for mik and i to get our private space back.  when i work from home sometimes, it feels crowded with the nanny here and i have nowhere to go!  rent in nyc is ridiculous right now though... we can't find a decent 2-bdrm for less than $3500 and i really can't stomach the thought of paying that much rent plus broker fee (usually 15% of annual rent).  i don't know what we're going to do yet...  praying we get lucky and come across the perfect apt without broker fees.
