the big S
it's time for solids!!! we've been so excited for this day to arrive (esp moi). i went to whole foods on friday and got organic brown rice cereal and organic frozen peas. we'll start with the rice cereal first followed by veggies just as dr. kercher had suggested. no need to jump into fruits right away. if he has his mama's taste buds, he will have a sweet tooth!
yesterday we set the stage. cleared the dining table... got a bib, camera and iphone... mik put maki in the high chair while i mixed 1 tbsp of rice cereal with 4 tbsp of formula. it was very runny. at first he didn't like it. maybe because the spoon seemed like a strange item to him and he didn't know what was going on. then after he finally tasted a little, he liked it! we couldn't feed him fast enough. we ended up trying 3 different spoons. first one was too small, then too big, then we used the perfect one (although it came in pink - ugh). we knew chubby cheeks would love solids! :) a lot of it ended up on the bib, on his face or on the table - but it was sooo fun! love going through all these developmental stages with our baby. also gave him water in a sippy cup. he doesn't really know how to get the water out of it yet. he just plays with it like it's a toy. haha
today i mixed rice cereal with 3 tbsp of breast milk. it seemed more runny than yesterday. a lot of it ended up on his face again. i guess that's to be expected. he does seem a little less excited about his bottle now though. maybe he is eager to be a big boy and eat table food like mama and papa. don't grow too fast, baby love.... *sniff*
excited for wednesday - we'll try peas!!!
