hellooooo UES!

OH NO! WE GOT HIT BY HURRICANE SANDY!!!

no, that's just us moving.  sorry there hasn't been an update since the hurricane happened.  we're all fine.  we were unaffected actually.  we barely heard the wind.  we still had power, water, heat, cable and internet.  maki slept through it.  we feel very lucky.  it's so sad watching the news... lots of areas that weren't so lucky.  :(  we also managed to moved to our new apartment in the upper east side on wednesday.  i was scared the bridges would still be closed and that the movers couldn't get to the city...  can't believe we pulled off moving apartments during all the chaos.  our move went smoothly for the most part.  my favorite movers finished in 5 hours.  they're so fast!  the past few days we have been busy unpacking and getting settled.  we got the cable, internet and fake wall installed (for the 2nd bedroom - very common in manhattan).  maki was in a weird mood the first night here and cried in the middle of the night.  i think he was overwhelmed by his bigger bedroom and his new surroundings.  poor baby...  he has the true bedroom and it's 2x as big as ours!  what a hard life...  so far we really like the new apt, bldg and neighborhood.  our new church is charming and is only a couple of blocks away.  no more tourists and people at the corner asking us if we want to rent bikes.  woohoo!!!  there's also an 11-month old baby girl on our floor and hopefully maki will start play dates with her soon.

i've been holding maki's hands for balance but he can totally get up and stand now.  he's so strong.  so it was no shock to me when nanny told us today that maki pulled himself up in the crib to stand!  mik had to lower  his mattress so he doesn't climb out. oh my!  my baby is growing up... *sniff*  we don't have it on video either...  maki's first snow today too and mik and i weren't there to share it with him. we missed 2 events today. *sniff again*

i used to like daylight savings fall back.  extra hour of sleep.  how wonderful.   but with a baby, it wasn't wonderful at all.   esp with a baby who has a pretty defined schedule.  instead of waking up at 7:30am, maki woke up at 7am and his feeding and nap schedules were all over the place.  in the past 3 days, he has been napping from 5-7pm and not going to bed until 8:30.  poor baby has to put up with a schedule change plus a new apt.  his world is changing so much...  we leave for maui next friday and with the 6-hr difference, i don't know how he's going to deal with that!
