belated happy mother's day

even though it was my 2nd mother's day, it was still very special.  it's a reminder of the great bond i have with maki, how much he has changed my life for the better, the joy he brings to my life and what i would give up for him (anything).  it is also a celebration of what mothers do and the unselfishness, love, patience and strength they give to their children.  at one point in my life, i questioned having kids. i think it was because i wasn't with the right person.  but looking back on that now, how could i have questioned that?  motherhood is so fulfilling in so many ways and as i've said before, it does complete me as a woman.  last sunday, we took my mom out to lunch before going to mik's parents for swimming and dinner.  it was a nice relaxing day with the family. just perfect.

maki has been walking a lot more lately.  he's still more comfortable crawling but i think pretty soon he will be fully walking.  grandma, wowo and ate jules came over today and gave him a few pairs of shoes.  woohoo!  he is also constantly "talking" and having conversations by himself.  it's very cute.  one of these days, i hope to capture it on video.  when he wakes up before 8am, he's usually babbling in his crib because he knows we won't get him until 8am.  he's very playful now.  takes his blanket, puts it over his head and says "aaaaaahhhhh" (his version of peekaboo).  he knows that when we put on his shoes, it's time to go outside.  he loves going outside and has been taking my hand and walking me to the door.  he loves his legos.  we can see his face light up when he successfully attaches two pieces to each other.  he can take them apart very easily but putting them together is still a challenge.  he loves to hug his bears, monkey and cow stuffed animals.  during bedtime, he picks the books he wants us to read and he usually gives it to papa or mama depending on the book (there are some books only papa reads and vice versa).  he always picks the long books that papa reads - because he's smart and wants to delay going to bed!  he appreciates music and "grooves".  he loves going on path (iphone app) and clicking on all the videos.  he swipes through the pages and stops only when he sees a video.  he is so good on his ipad now.  it's amazing how fast kids learn!  he's like a sponge at this age.  i love teaching him and knowing he understands me and enjoys learning too.  i love his age right now...  he's so cute regardless of what he's doing... even throwing up!  haha.  i can't get enough of my baby love.  i will hate it when i have to go back to work!  :(

we should try to find a night sitter so mik and i can have date nights more regularly.  mik's family is 30-40 miles from us so it's not easy to just drop the baby off and pick him up.  but hard to find a sitter you can trust in a new city....  even though the baby will be sleeping, we still have to trust that person with our house!  but i have no job yet (still looking) so we should hold off on finding a sitter.  argh.

a little TMI but my right boob has been leaking milk here and there.  just a drop or two.  usually when i put maki to bed!  i googled it and it sounds like leaking milk is normal up to 6 months after weaning.  it has been barely 6 months so i won't worry about it just yet.

here's a cute video of maki practicing walking outside with shoes on:

here's a video of maki at 14 months swiping through all the pages on the path app and looking for the videos only.  he loves to watch them!

here's a video of maki - this is what happens when mama takes away his ipad:

here are some of his latest pics:
